ROC-NY does more than just fight the restaurants that take the ‘low-road'. In 2005, ROC-NY organized the New York City Restaurant Industry (NYCRI) Roundtable, a regular convening of restaurant owners who take the ‘high-road' to profitability, setting the trend for integrity, respect, and good working conditions in the city's restaurant industry!

Through the NYCRI Roundtable, workers, owners, and city agencies came together to produce the New York City Restaurant Owner Manual, a 60-page manual on restaurant owners' legal obligations to their workers.

Because of the NYCRI Roundtable, the City agreed to publish and distribute the Manual to restaurant owners every time they seek to obtain a license from the City. ROC-NY was also able to work with the City Department of Small Business Services to offer free monthly training to restaurant owners on the Manual.

Currently, members of the NYCRI Roundtable are signing on to an Employer Agreement that will allow ROC-NY to promote them to conscientious consumers.

 

 Becoming a NYCRI Roundtable Restaurant

  • If your restaurant meets all the requirements set forth in the Employer Agreement, you are eligible to sign on to the Agreement and join the NYCRI Roundtable.
  • If your restaurant is not currently eligible, a NYCRI Roundtable representative will help you work toward the requirements of the Agreement so you can join the NYCRI Roundtable at a later date.

Once you have signed on to the Employer Agreement, you will be presented an award at our annual Exceptional Workplace celebration - a gathering of your workers and other Roundtable members and partners.

You will meet with all members of the NYCRI Roundtable to discuss progress, satisfaction, and continued commitment to the principles of the Agreement.
